The Post Office Act of 1979 allows the postal service to operate as a self-financing department. The Department is headed by a Director who is answerable to the Minister of Communications, Science and Technology. The Post Office Act of 1979 which established the Lesotho Postal Services stipulates the operator's responsibility as that of providing postal services in Lesotho and between Lesotho and other countries.
